How We Use Your Data

  • •To operate and improve the Knack platform
  • •To process bookings and payments securely through Stripe
  • •To send transactional emails about your bookings, messages, and account
  • •To send marketing emails only if you have opted in
  • •To personalise your search results and recommendations
  • •To detect and prevent fraud and abuse
  • •To comply with applicable legal obligations

Your Privacy Rights

Knack complies with both UK GDPR (Data Protection Act 2018) and EU GDPR (Regulation 2016/679). Our service area is the United Kingdom and the 27 EU member states. You have rights to access, correct, port, and delete your personal data wherever you reside within this service area.

Under UK GDPR and EU GDPR, we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • •Contract (Art. 6(1)(b)) — Processing is necessary to perform the contract between you and Knack — e.g. processing bookings, payments, and account management.
  • •Legitimate Interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — We process data to improve our platform, prevent fraud, and ensure platform security, where these interests are not overridden by your rights.
  • •Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — Where you have opted in to receive marketing emails or enable optional features such as location-based search.
  • •Legal Obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — Where we are required to retain or share data to comply with applicable law, such as financial record-keeping obligations.

Your Public Location and the Pro Map

Your public city, town or neighbourhood and country help Creators find nearby Pros. Search distances use a town or city centre and are approximate, including when your map setting is hidden.

All profiles start hidden on the map. You can opt in through Services & Rates in Edit Profile. Approximate pins are moved about 1–2 km before they are sent to a visitor. Exact pins publish your chosen coordinates and are for commercial premises you are happy to make public. Do not use your home address.

Your private street address is not included in map results. Eligible booking participants can receive the meeting address through the booking. Choosing a map setting does not change that booking access.

To withdraw from the map, choose Stay off the map and save your profile. Future map responses omit your pin. An already-open page may take up to a minute to refresh; hiding a pin cannot remove copies someone has already made.

Map tiles are supplied by OpenStreetMap. Loading a map sends the tile provider your IP address and the area being viewed. When you request a town/city lookup, only your public town, city and country are used.

Who We Share Your Data With

  • •Stripe for payment processing (their privacy policy applies to payment data)
  • •Other users on the platform as part of your public profile (name, bio, location, portfolio — you control what is shown)
  • •Third-party services used to operate the platform including hosting and analytics providers
  • •Law enforcement or regulators if required by law

We never sell your personal data to third parties.

International Data Transfers

Your personal data is primarily processed in the United Kingdom (where Nichee Ltd is registered) and the European Economic Area. Some sub-processors (e.g. Stripe for payments, email infrastructure providers) may transfer data to the United States.

Where data leaves the UK or EEA, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs), the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or UK Addendum, or equivalent transfer mechanisms approved by the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and the European Commission.

You can obtain details of the safeguards applied to international transfers by contacting privacy@knackapp.co.
